Hieroglyphics veteran Tajai and producer The Architect link up for a dope new project. For all of those that know how the members of the Hieroglyphics get down, this should come as no surprise that Tajai gets to spittin on here. His bars are unrelenting and unstoppable. He never seems to run out of phrases that rhyme. He enlists features from Kool G Rap, Casual, Sa-Roc, and more. All of the features get busy on here as well. The production is raw and different. it’s boom bap, but also unique at the same time. It’s a fresh new sound for new times. This project is very dope and definitely deserves your attention.

OPIO & THE ARCHITECT – GALAXY TOUCH

This is a quick 6 track release from Opio, a member of the legendary group Hieroglyphics, and producer The Architect. There are 4 songs and 2 instrumentals. Opio sound as great as he ever did with his unique style of rhyming and legendary voice. It’s always refreshing hearing from one of the members of the Hieroglyphics. The Architect does a good job with providing some pure hip hop sounding tracks for Opio to get busy over. This was a very quick but dope project and the only thing we can hope for is a longer project next time.

CASUAL & DEAD PERRY – THE ART OF REANIMATION

Casual and Dead Perry link up to drop a remix album with a few new tracks. Dead Perry took Casual’s Big Head Science album and did a ton of remixes for it. The two artists also dropped 4 new songs to go along with it. On the mic, Casual is dope as usual. As stated previously, his rhymes are dope and he is full of multi-syllabic rhymes. I think the production was stepped up a bit which is what was lacking on the first release. This one definitely moved the needle in the right direction. It was a fresh take on his album and something that was definitely needed. We always look forward to projects from the Hieroglyphics crew.

A-PLUS & THE ARCHITECT – COLD COUNTRY

A-Plus and The Architect join forces again to give us a great new album for the holiday season. This one has a lot of skits that are pretty amusing, but could have probably been trimmed down a bit. On the lyrical side of things, A-Plus does a great job on the mic as usual. His flow is like water just as it has always been. He is able to spit rhymes with the best of them and it sounds smooth. The beats on here are pretty good as well. The Architect has this knack for creating bolder, more full-bodied songs by filling them out with harder drums and great samples. A highlight on here is “Living Nowhere.” This song painfully and realistically shows what it is like to be homeless. It really paints a grim picture of what life would be like. This one will really stick with you. All in all, this was a pretty dope project. I can’t wait to see what else this duo can come out with.

A-PLUS & THE ARCHITECT – BLVCK SWITZERLVND

A-Plus from the Hieroglyphics teams up with producer The Architect to give us a brand new project that is perfect for all of the flow masters out there. A-Plus can ride a beat like few can. That whole Hiero crew has always been known for that and A-Plus just further proves it here with this latest release. He jumps from word to word, phrase to phrase effortlessly on this new set of tracks. The beats on here are great as well. The Architect really captures that perfect tone for A-Plus to flourish. There are some really good highlights on this project including “Stupid Kids” featuring 2Krazi, “Cleopatra” featuring Planet Asia, and “Adam Raising Cain.” All three of these have fire beats and fire rhymes and you will quickly see why this album is dope. I strongly urge everyone out there to check this one out and more of the stuff from the Hieroglyphics crew. You will get a lesson in lyrical exercise.

CASUAL – BIG HEAD SCIENCE

Casual, one of the members of the almighty Heiroglypics crew, is back with a brand new album. This one was pretty average overall. Casual definitely has a great flow, as he always had amongst the Heiroglyphics crew. He’s not a bad rapper at all. He definitely has some great lines throughout this entire project. The beats were overall, pretty average as well. There really wasn’t anything that stuck out too far from the others. I was digging the posse cut “The Gift Of Science” which features Ghostface Killah, Dwayne Wiggins, Tristate, Killah Priest, Phesto, and Planet Asia. This was a pretty dope song to hear put together. Another really good highlight was “Let’s Go Camping” which featured a really catchy hook and an all around feel good vibe. This was a decent attempt at an album, but I would have liked to have seen a little more focus overall.

PEP LOVE – MAGNAM OSTIUM

Pep Love from the legendary Hieroglyphics crew drops a quick new project with only 6 tracks. This one is classic hip-hop through and through. The Hieroglyphics crew has always been great with rhyming and with this latest offering from one of their members, we can easily see that nothing has changed at all. Pep Love’s flow throughout this project is impeccable. The way his voice rides overtop of the beat without missing a step is uncanny. The beats are pretty dope as well. You’re not really going to get any boom bap here, but you do get some funky, jazzy, and almost live instrument-style beats which Pep Love is well suited for. This was a great look for him. We can only hope that we will see another Hieroglyphics collective project in the future. This one really made us miss hearing the crew.
