Drake’s latest mixtape is pretty decent. A lotta fire is to be found on this joint. I think he was smart in calling it a playlist instead of an album because it plays more like a playlist. There are a lot of different types of songs, a lot of different vibes, and a lot of different sounds to hear on this project. Lyrically, Drake is bringing a little heat. He may not be at the top of the game right now, but he is definitely a force to be reckoned with. He definitely brings the bars on tracks like “Free Smoke,” “Lose You,” and “Do Not Disturb.” I think the main format of this project is similar to views but he has an updated sound on it. I’d almost call it more of a reggae vibe on this one. Not to say that it is all reggae but some of the tracks just give me that vibe. I’d say the standout track is probably the Kanye West-assisted “Glow.” Ye is at the top of his game on this track and the two of them together on this track make them sound like legends. There are some lower points on the project as well such as “Portland” and “Sacrifices” and the horrible features on both of those tracks. These tracks are straight garbage and should have been thrown away. Despite a few misses like those, it’s overall a pretty decent effort. If you are a Drake fan, you will definitely enjoy this playlist so make sure you go and cop it.
