Droog drops a short 7-track project to keep the movement rolling. This one is quick and dirty. There are no features because he really doesn’t need any. With the bars, they are clever and his flow is dope. He has slick lines scattered all throughout the tracks. They are all basically freestyles as a lot of the titles suggest. The beats on here are pretty decent as well. This is a solid project and Droog is batting pretty averagely with this one.

Your Old Droog drops another dope project. At only 7 tracks, there wasn’t much room for error. YOD does a great job with bars. He has been getting better and better and you can hear the focus increase from project to project. There are no features on here because frankly, he doesn’t need them. His flow is strong and his wordplay is really dope. You will constantly find yourself having to rewind back to understand what he meant on that previous bar. The beats on here are pretty decent overall. These might be more simplified for beats without a lot of musicality, but he still fills up the air with his rhymes and the beats provide a nice backdrop. All in all, YOD is on another tear, and he is doing a great job on this go round.

Your Old Droog drops a new 7 track project that is pretty decent. With not much room for error, YOD doesn’t really make many anyway. He’s got some great bars and some really interesting and thematic songs. The beats on here are slightly laid back, but I think they work for what it is. Highlights include the love story “Love & Basketball” where he tells about a heartbreak. Another good one is “Go To Sleep” where he talks about the value of getting some good sleep. We need more rap songs like that telling about things that everyone goes through. They were really well-written and overall, YOD did a good job with this one.

Droog almost had a perfect album here with this one. When you start off, you can hear the excellence right off the bat. His bars are immaculate and crafted at a super high level. He is definitely blacking out on more than few songs here. He really stepped up his bar game for this one. The beats on here are amazing too. He really selected some great beats to rhyme over. “Fela Kruti” sets the tone for the album with a banging beat and God-level rhymes. “Scooby Snacks” is a perfect beat in which Droog blacks out again. He is assisted with some singing from Mach Hommy on this one as well. One of the only downfalls about this project is the length of it. Being only 7 tracks definitely left me wanting more. It also seemed to trail off towards the end but only a miniscule amount. This was a pretty fantastic project from beginning to end. Droog almost had a classic on his hands.

Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog join forces again to give us a really dope new album with this one. The second installment of their Wolf On Wall St series shows fans how strong they can be. On the mic, Droog is definitely shining. His bars are improving and he is really able to spit some slick lines with a dope flow. Fahim is an equal, yet different complement for him as well. These 2 go back and forth trading some really well written raps. The beats on here are strong as well. There are some great samples used and a good highlight of this is the first track “Wall St With Briefcase.” It has a sped up vocal sample that sounds great when the MCs flow overtop of it. It’s almost reminiscent of a Heatmakerz track. All in all, this was a really strong album and one that you will not want to miss.

Your Old Droog drops a dope new project that is like a journey into space. You can almost picture yourself boarding the lyrical spaceship and going on a tour through the cosmos with your captain, Your Old Droog. He spits some really well written bars with some slick punchlines all throughout the project. This is definitely one that fans will be picking apart and playing back. There are features from Tha God Fahim, Nickelus F, and more. The beats on here are pretty straight forward as well. While they might not be on a classic level, they are definitely strong and possess the right type of sound for Droog to deliver a worthy product. All around, Droog did a good job with this one and we look forward to what is coming next.

Your Old Droog releases a super dope new album called Time. Aptly so, there are tons of references to that phenomenon that we all deal with called time. On the mic, Droog really has stepped it up and has some great bars that he has put together. His flow is really good on this album as well. The production on this one is very decent as well. There are plenty of boom bap and even some interesting samples that he raps over. One of the most interesting tracks is “The Magic Watch” in which Droog poses the scenario of a time-travel watch and what could happen with that. “Please Listen To My Jew Tape” is another great track in which Droog lets us know how hard it can be to get on in the industry. “So High” is another tribute to everyone’s favorite green plant which should be pretty self-explanatory. “Field Of Dreams” is a decent song that showcases some fantastic features from Aesop Rock & Elzhi. I even gotta give huge props for Droog selecting superb comedian Anthony Jeselnik for some of the drops in between songs. He is always great for a laugh and it’s a great idea to include him on there by Droog. All in all, this is one of Droog’s best albums he has ever done. This is one that deserves more than a few listens.

Your Old Droog and Tha God Fahim team up for another project and this one is pretty decent overall. On the mic, I think Droog edges out Fahim with the bars. He seems to have the harder approach to the mic and really gives us some well-constructed bars. That’s not to say that Fahim doesn’t do a decent job as well. His bars are pretty good as well, but just a step under Droog’s. The production on here ranges from average to above average. There are certainly some great boom bap beats that are sprinkled in here. Highlights include “Stretch,” ” Slam Dunk Contest” featuring Pharoahe Monch, and even the old school feel of “90 From The Line (remix).” The entire album has a dope concept applied to it as it plays through like a basketball game. That was definitely a dope concept to try out on an album. All in all, this was a really good job by Your Old Droog and Tha God Fahim.

Tha God Fahim and Your Old Droog link up to give us this new collaboration project. On the mic, Fahim and Droog are pretty decent. Droog seems to provide the harder bars throughout, but Fahim definitely has a strong flow as well. It’s always good to see 2 MCs link up and watch sword sharpen sword as they both try to outdo the other. The production on this project was a little lighter and dreamier than I would have liked. The beats are very laid back. This is what you would listen to as a soundtrack to just kicking back and chilling on top of a cloud. All in all, not a bad album, I just would have liked to have seen both MCs bring some harder tracks that slam more. Spit those bars of fury over hard beats like we all know that you can.

Your Old Droog cooks up a fresh and dope new project. This one sounds like it would be right out of Soviet Russia and much of Eastern Europe. He does a great job on this new project. The bars are great and he really has some slick lines throughout. He is definitely a lot more commanding on the mic as well on this go round. He employs some decent features from MCs like Mach Hommy, Tha God Fahim, Black Thought, and more. The beats on this project definitely go pretty hard as well. There is definitely an air of cohesiveness to this project also. It plays through very well and all of the songs seem to mesh very well. He did a great job on this one and we hope to see more projects like this.

Your Old Droog comes back stronger with this new album. On this one, I think his rhyme game definitely stepped up and his flow is a lot tighter as well. One of the biggest contributing factors is the beats. The production quality on this project definitely stepped up from his last few releases. There are some certified bangers on this one and in turn, I think that makes MCs step up their game. There is no question that YOD can spit. I think he just thrives better on certain kinds of production. The highlight of this project is “Jew Tang” that features Matisyahu. This joint has a menacing beat with hard drums that will definitely snap your neck as you listen to it. You definitely want to check out this whole album because YOD is definitely coming with something here.

Your Old Droog - Jewelry

Droog comes back at us almost instantly with another project. This one suffers from the same thing the last one did – lack of direction. I know he can rap. You can hear it in his voice and some of his bars. He has got that heart of a dope MC. I just wish there was a little more focus on the songs. Have some more centralized themes or more popular topics that more people can relate too. The album is called Transportation and I know that is the vibe he was going for, but it just didn’t resonate as well as it should have. The beats were decent on here. I didn’t think there was really anything that stood out too much. The best track on here is “Train Love” as music enthusiasts should recognize the sample on here being “Oh Honey” by Delegation. All in all, this wasn’t a bad project, I just think it could have been a lot better.

Your Old Droog - Transportation

This was possibly a decent project but there were definitely some things I would address on here. Droog definitely has a dope voice and the dude can rap. There is no question there. You will get some dope lines sprinkled all throughout this project. The problem I think he faces is getting a central theme or direction for a project. The songs do sound throw together and not really any kind of direction here. Bars for the sake of bars sometimes works, but it just didn’t seem to stick on this project. The beats were okay. There were definitely some that seemed like they were trying to be quirky, underground beats just for the sake of being different. “Smores” and “Ugly Truth (Hommo Mix)” were definitely 2 of the ones that banged a little bit more. All in all, I think there was some more work that could have been done on this project.

Your Old Droog - It Wasn't Even Close

For Droog’s second album, this wasn’t bad. While it is by no means life-changing, I think it does showcase what a great rapper Droog can be. Lyrically he is killing it out there. He brings the bars on pretty much every track on here. That can’t be debated. The beats are decent. They are nothing to really write home about but can at least keep the listener mildly interested. I don’t think that this is the type of album that you keep on repeat. This is more of an important step in Droog’s career. His Looseys EP was better than the actual album but I think that this shows that Droog has some staying power. That is probably the most important thing to take away here. Give this one a go and see what you think.

#yourolddroog #packs

This was a dope little EP released by Your Old Droog as a precursor to the Packs album. This is definitely not the throw-away songs that didn’t make the cut. This is a dope collection of songs to prepare you. There aren’t a whole lot of tracks with only 6 and an instrumental version of each one. The beats are pretty decent overall. The rhymes are definitely pretty good as Your Old Droog has always been dope. How can you be confused with Nas and not be good? I’d say the highlight of this project is “Just Rhyming” with Joey Badass and Styles P. The beat is so menacing. It almost reminds me of some old 90’s DJ Premier “NY State Of Mind” -type style. Droog shows us he can definitely flow not only on this song, but on the whole project. This was a good project and you might even get stuck on this one for awhile before you check out the Packs album.

This was a quick and weird little EP. Droog definitely does his thing lyrically on the project. Wiki has the softest voice ever and sounds like he should never rap again. His flow is absolutely atrocious. The world would be a better place if he retired the mic today. The beats are ok on here, nothing too earth-shattering. It’s probably a good thing that this project is so short because it may be hard to take it if it was longer. Other than Droog’s verses, I would probably do a pass on this EP.
