Lyrical assassin RJ Payne teams up with superb underground producer Stu Bangas to give us a cinematic trip through New York. On this project, RJ Payne gives us a day in a lot of the hot spots in each borough in New York City. You can almost see the scenes he is talking about as he describes his day in each. It really is no wonder how they came up with the title for this album. There aren’t any features on the project other than DJ DooWop narrating some of the movement between places. One interesting note about the lyrics on this project is that you won’t really hear any kind of blatant violence. There aren’t drugs being sold or people getting shot and murdered on here. RJ Payne keeps it much more simplified, while at the same time showing us what his week looked like. Stu Bangas does a great job on the beats as usual. He is a proven staple in the industry now and is really showing us that he can score a project well. All in all, this is a well-written project that tells a great story. Hip hop purists and general fans will both agree that this project deserves respect.

Cappadonna teams up with producer Stu Bangas to bring us a strong new Cappadonna album. We haven’t heard this much strength from a Cappadonna album in awhile and I think that is directly due to the musical providings of Stu Bangas. His beats are hard and brings out the best of every MC he works with. With hard drums and basslines, he almost forces the rhymes out of the rapper. Stu really did a decent job with these beats on here. Cappadonna raps with a renewed resurgence of power and skill. He is dropping jewels for the masses straight outta the Park Hill projects with this one. He has features from Celph Titled, Planet Asia, Sick Jacken, Ill Bill, and more. This is definitely one of Cappadonna’s better albums and I’m almost certain hip hop fans will find their personal favorites to put on repeat.

Dres from the group Black Sheep and super producer Stu Bangas combine forces to give us a quick 5 track EP cleverly titled Sheep Stu. This is a fast, but dope journey with this great combination. This was they type of combination I didn’t know I needed until I heard it. Dres has a steady and direct approach to his rhymes and his flow is pretty decent. Stu Bangas gives us 5 joints that are definitely bangers and makes it easy for Dres to flow over. This is quality work and we definitely hope to see more work from these two in the future.

Stu Bangas releases a brand new album that is pretty heavy overall. He is a real dope producer that has been hitting us with some heaters for quite awhile now. On this new project, he enlists help from MC heavyweights like Vinnie Paz, Apathy, Celph Titled, Ill Bill, Mr. Lif, and more. Every rapper definitely holds their own on the beats and perform well. The beats are hard and definitely will make your head nod. The highlight was the Mr. Lif assisted “Candy From A Baby.” It is rare that you hear a life story told as clearly, as heartfelt, and as perfectly as Mr. Lif did hear with this one. This verse is definitely one of the best I have heard all year long and that is saying a lot. Hats off to Stu Bangas for bringing some hard rap to the table this year and continued success moving forward.

Eric Bobo from Cypress Hill teams up with power producer Stu Bangas to give us a pretty strong compilation record with a lot of big features on it. The highlights on this project include “Chemtrails” featuring Vinnie Paz, RJ Payne, and Xzibit. All three of those MCs rip the microphone to shreds. “Another One For The Books” featuring Apathy and Celph Titled is another really strong record on here and you already know what you are getting with those two powerhouse MCs. You get some other features from the likes of OC, Ill Bill, Psycho Les, Pharoahe Monch, Blacastan, Sick Jacken, and many more. Stu Bangas definitely delivers on the beats and gives us some really strong and hard hitting records on here. He really has a great consistency pattern which is great. This is a dope hip hop album and you should definitely give this one a spin or three.

Lord Goat teams up with Stu Bangas on the boards and they release a really dope new project. On the mic, Lord Goat definitely keeps it different than a lot of rappers out there. He is slick and tends to talk about different topics than your normal run of the mill MC. He definitely knows how to stand out in the crowd. Mixing heavy metal and satanic rituals and cults into a lot of his rhymes, he definitely gives a different perspective in his bars. There are some great features from Vinnie Paz, Apathy, Ill Bill, and more. Stu Bangas does a good job with the beats for this project. I think he matched the style of Lord Goat musically. While Lord Goat might be an acquired taste, once you really look at his rhymes and hear the music, I think he can definitely gain a wider audience.

Blacastan teams up for a third time with producer Stu Bangas for another great installment of the Watson & Holmes series. These two really know how to work together well. Blacastan has an amazing flow and showcases it amazingly throughout these albums and definitely on this latest one. Stu Bangas maybe starts out a little slow in the beginning of the record, but ramps it up a bit as it goes along. You get features from SmooVth, Nowaah The Flood, Marvalyss, and more. The highlight of this project is the menacing “Crawlspace” featuring Goretex. This one definitely plays like a crime thriller and both MCs definitely rip the mic over a really dope beat. All in all, this was a very well made project.

Blacastan & Stu Bangas - Watson & Holmes 3

The phenomenal producer Stu Bangas delivers a really dope new project. At only 8 tracks, this album really kicks into gear fast. You get great features from MCs like Ty Farris, Blacastan, Celph Titled, and more. The rhymes are pretty decent throughout. There really weren’t any whack performances. The beats are super dope as there really was no question that Stu Bangas would kill it on the production side of things. He provides hard-hitting beats that will definitely get your neck snapping. The best track on here is the first one by Ty Farris “Open The Lane.” Ty absolutely murders the lyrics over a really good beat. An honorable mention goes to Celph Titled on the title track “Beats And Blood.” This is another really hard song with great lyrics. This is definitely one you don’t want to miss out on. Solid piece of work the whole way through.

Producer Stu Bangas hits us with a decent and short project here with this EP. He gives us a clip of 7 quick tracks with some great underground MCs. While these might not be the best tracks out there, it’s a quick and dope listen. The highlight was Apathy on “Carbon Fiber.” This was a dope beat and Apathy just absolutely laces the rhymes as usual. You get other features on here from Hus Kingpin, Blacastan, Ill Bill and more. This one isn’t going to be for everyone, but the underground hip-hop fans will want to quickly check it.

Stu Bangas - Discernment

Psychopathic and brutal MC Ill Bill teams up with Stu Bangas and drop a powerful new quick record here with this one. Bill is definitely dope on the mic and incorporates his mix of heavy metal meets gore in his bars. You definitely can’t go wrong with that. He has Gortex featured heavy on this record with other notable features from Vinnie Paz and Slaine. Stu Bangas definitely does a great job on the production side giving us a lot of dope bangers. He relies heavily on some guitar rifts for samples but also keeps some of that boom bap to make the records sound strong. There were 3 skits which was 3 skits too many. They definitely weren’t needed. The far and away best song on here has to be “Joe Fixit” which features Snak The Ripper. The beat on here is basically heaven sent. You don’t find many beats out there today like this one. Flawless job on that one. All in all, this is a good record. Definitely don’t let this one pass you by.

Ill Bill & Stu Bangas - Cannibal Hulk

This album was fantastic. This is the true definition of consistency. Blacastan hits us with rhymes that are of a very high caliber and his flow is amazing. He also has a great lineup of featured artists on this one including his Army Of The Pharaoh brethren Apathy and Esoteric. The beats are just superb on here. You get banger after banger as a backdrop. All of the songs are consistent and cohesive. They are woven together in a Sherlock Holmes type mystery story. This is one that you don’t wanna pass up on. This is a must hear for any of the real underground hip hop heads out there.
