STACK BUNDLES – LIBRARY OF A ROCKSTAR: CHAPTER 30

The final chapter of this incredible series showcases Stack doing what he does best. Simply freestyling. He was amazing at it and this final chapter shows us some of his greatest rhymes. You can hear the hunger in his voice and he bodies classic beat after classic beat. The strength shines through on every bar. He was going to be a star, but we tragically lost him before he could really shine to the world. This was a great series and he really embodied what a true artist was meant to be. He was a great lyricist, he was versatile, he had style, and he could speak to all segments of the culture. Stack Bundles is truly missed and it was great hearing this entire collection.

This chapter is completely acapella freestyles by Stack Bundles and other members of the Riot Squad. This is the rawest chapter yet in this series. You hear Stack Bundles in his element just vomiting rhymes onto the mic and making look easy. You can definitely hear why he was so good in this most true, honest, and rawest form. He really does sound great when freestyling. This was the truest test of an MC and he passed with flying colors.

STACK BUNDLES – LIBRARY OF A ROCKSTAR: CHAPTER 28

“Icon Salute Me” is the title of the 28th chapter in this massive series. This was another really quick offering at only 6 songs. Stack Bundles does a great job with the bars. These songs almost have more of an insightful and powerful feeling to them. He has songs like “I Ain’t Shit” where he really is taking a close look at his own life. There are songs like “Please Forgive Me” where he is asking for God’s forgiveness for his past sins. So this one does get a little more heavy than previous releases. The beats on here are pretty decent overall as well. I think they did a good job with capturing yet another side of Stack Bundles.

STACK BUNDLES – LIBRARY OF A ROCKSTAR: CHAPTER 27

The 27th chapter of the Stack Bundles series finds a bit more of a melancholy vibe to it as you go through the whole album. Sure, his rhymes are decent, but there is a sadness to it overall. The beats are the same way especially as some of the more somber tracks are chosen. The real hip hop heads will be able to pick out the samples they here. They do a nice job reworking some classic tracks. The highlight of this one is the track “Smile” as this one is a bit different than the other tracks. It has a great beat and Stack really flows over top of it with some good rhymes. All in all, this was a decent project, but definitely a bit more sadder overall than previous chapters.

STACK BUNDLES – LIBRARY OF A ROCKSTAR: CHAPTER 26

Coming down the homestretch of this series, we find chapter 26 with a lot of the more club sounding songs from Stack Bundles. This chapter is entitled Riot Or Diet. I’m not quite sure why they chose that title, but this one definitely sounds like you would hear these songs in the club. Stack Bundles had a great flow and rode the beat perfectly, but also kept it fun with these bars. You can definitely picture people 2-stepping to these songs with a glass in one hand. I definitely appreciated the sample on “Starvin” as the real hip-hop heads will recognize that track. All in all, this was a feel good project for all fans of Stack Bundles.

The Signing Bonus is what this chapter is called and Stack Bundles raps with the confidence to show you why he would get that. These are a collection of some really finely-crafted songs. These almost sound like the cream of the crop. He goes extremely hard on the bars. The production is very finely selected as well. Most are original beats but they even mix in some classics like Clipse sampled “Mr. Me Too.” This is definitely one of the better collections so far in this series. RIP Stack Bundles.

In the 24th chapter of this series, we find Stack Bundles being described as “The Weather Man.” I’m not really sure why they picked that moniker for this chapter. This one finds a bunch of quick snippets from Stack Bundles. There really wasn’t a theme. The bars were decent, but probably not his best work thus far. The beats were pretty average overall. I think this chapter was a little more boring than previous ones. It’s a quick listen though so it is easy to get through. We will see what future chapters hold.

Chapter 23 plays through pretty well. This one sounds like what a classic mixtape should sound like. There is a good mix of original tracks and classic beats that Stacks rocks over. His bars are definitely heavy all throughout this entire project. To be real, they pretty much have been most of the way through this entire series. You can definitely tell that this was the life he chose especially with all of the rhymes he had prepared. He knew he was going to make it one way or another. This was a solid set of songs from the late, great legend.

This 22nd chapter is entitled “Hip Hop’s Savior” and this one comes across very strong. Stack Bundles continues to bless the mic and show why he was poised to be one of rap’s best. He definitely rips it over some classic NY beats and even some West Coast beats like Game’s “Church For Thugs” in which he calls it “Don’t Want No Parts.” He just seems like he was born to rock beats like that. This is another strong showing for Stack Bundles and another great trip along this journey back to reminisce.

This chapter of the Stack Bundles legacy was actually pretty whack. Now it’s not really because of Stack, but more so because of the other MCs that were featured on here. There are some really sub par artists on here and a lot of tracks that aren’t too quality. Stack shines through here and there on here, but for the most part, it is a lot of garbage on here. This one was definitely a tougher listen. I would skip right past this chapter on this journey.

The 20th chapter finds Stack Bundles with some of his best features along his journey. As always, he is always spitting with passion and conviction. There was a confidence about the way he spit his bars. Often times when artists pair up on songs, they view it as a friendly competition where they have to outdo the other artist(s). Steel sharpens steel. This was definitely apparent upon listening to his verses. He wanted to show he was the better artist. The beats on here were pretty decent overall. I still think Stack Bundles shined brightest over that classic Rocafella production, but at the end of the day, he would make any track shine like it was his own because he was born to be a star. Another great installment in this long series.

This is an extremely quick release at only 5 songs. This chapter showcases some of the more “old school” sounding beats that Stack Bundles rhymed over. Even with such a different sound behind him, he could still spit great and have it sound like it was fresh. This was definitely a good idea for an installment of this chapter series. The beats are old and the rhymes are hot. Stack Bundles could make anything work and make it sound great.

Chapter 18 finds us with a break for Christmas. This one is very short at only 5 tracks. These songs come off of the Diplomat Christmas album that was put out by Jim Jones in 2006. They definitely picked some of the best highlights from that project. Of course they all have a Christmas vibe to them and can be a bit gimmicky, but you can still see the strength of Stack Bundle’s rhymes throughout. He fits in well with Jim Jones, Mel Matrix, and other affiliates. This is definitely one to check out and feel festive.

This is the second part of the M.O.B. portion of the Stack Bundles Library series. This one was better than chapter 16. I think that the Max B features were better on this one. He seems to fill in the parts of his songs smoother and more as he was intended to. The beats overall are better on this collection. And of course Stack sounds like a seasoned veteran on the tracks that he spits on. This was definitely a good showcase of how well Stack Bundles fit in with Jim Jones, Max B, and the rest of the Diplomat affiliates.

Chapter 16 of the series finds Stack Bundles showcasing his skills alongside the Diplomats. He had appeared on a lot of the Dipset mixtapes alongside Jim Jones and other affiliates. He definitely seemed to fit in well with that crew and they made a lot of great music together. This collection showcases some of that music. A lot of it was pulled from DJ Drama mixtapes from back in the day. I think some of the Max B hooks tended to bring the overall quality down in some cases, but overall, this is a good collection of Stack’s music from that time period.

The 15th chapter of this series has Stack Bundles in a Bidding War as the title suggests. By the 15th chapter, you can obviously see the same things being said over and over about Stack Bundles, but they remain the truth. His hunger is still present and he really wanted to get on and be a superstar. The rhymes are definitely on point and are most prevalent on the track “Send Em At Ya” which goes over Biggie’s “Who Shot Ya.” It’s hard for most MCs to not sound at least halfway decent over that classic beat so when you get a dope MC like Stack on there, you know you are in trouble. A few other classic beats on here and you have another great showcase of the late MC and you can see why he had many people interested in him enough to create a bidding war.

Riot’s That Gang is the name of the 14th chapter of the Stack Bundles series. This one showcases his great crew The Riot Squad. This one definitely demonstrates how great they all are together. When you take a lot of classic beats and get great street lyricists to rhyme over them, great things happen. They used a lot of fantastic old G-Unit beats and just let the MCs go nuts on the beat. I think the best freestyle on here would have to be “Riot Inc.” which features Bynoe and Cau2gs rapping over the Ja Rule beat “It’s Murda.” This is just such a powerful and menacing beat that it brings out the best in most MCs when they choose to rhyme over it. Another dope collection of songs here from the posthumous Stack Bundles library.

STACK BUNDLES – LIBRARY OF A ROCKSTAR: CHAPTER 13

The 13th chapter of Stack Bundles series was a little bit less lackluster than the other chapters thus far. As always, it is no question that Stack can spit, but for some reason, this one is just a little bit less than previous releases. His bars are pretty decent throughout. I think where it might suffer is the beats. Some of the beats don’t sound fully mastered or just aren’t as good quality-wise as other tracks he’s done. The highlight on this project is “Slow Leak” which features fellow Riot Squad member Bynoe. They both spit over an old G-Unit beat and it just sounds like it was meant to be. While this might not be the greatest chapter, we still know Stack Bundles always had it in him to be a star.

Chapter 12 finds us discovering Stack Bundles and company as “The Wolves.” This is a pretty accurate representation seeing as how you have songs with monstrous features from the likes of Joe Budden, Ransom, Hitchcock, Paul Cain, and more. All of these MCs along with Stack Bundles just absolutely obliterate the mic. It really is no wonder why they called it “The Wolves” when you hear these MCs ferociously tearing apart the competition. The beats on here are slightly above average whether they are original production or previous songs that they are rhyming over. All in all, another banging chapter of songs from the late, great Stack Bundles.

Chapter 11 finds us with a bit more savage music from Stack Bundles. There is more hypeness and strength behind the bars on this installment. Stack was definitely great at being hardcore and aggressive and that definitely comes through on the bars. The beats on this project were pretty decent overall. The best track on here is “Look Nigga, You Food” with it’s slamming drums and bassline. Stack goes in on the lyrics on that one. This chapter shows just how effective Stack Bundles can be when it comes to eating MCs.

This chapter of the Stack Bundles legacy finds Stack talking more to the ladies. Aptly titled “Heartthrob Of The Hood,” we see the more commercial, radio-friendly side of Stack Bundles. His rhymes are pretty decent throughout this shorter chapter. He is more of a softer side on here obviously to appeal more to the ladies. A well-rounded rapper can do it all. The beats on here are definitely complimentary to the rhyme style. You aren’t going to get neck-snapping break beats, but rather more smooth and laid-back type beats to vibe to. All in all, not a bad job on this chapter. This seemed like a necessary part of the legacy.

The late Stack Bundles has another chapter of his series here and to be honest, this one wasn’t quite as tight as the previous ones. It’s pretty average overall. He definitely spits the fly gangster, machismo type rhymes and they are pretty decent, but this wasn’t his best material. The beats on here were pretty average as well. There were a few that were aiming to be the club rockers, but he’s probably better in a freestyle area. All in all, there wasn’t anything whack on here, it’s just that it wasn’t his best work so far in this series.

STACK BUNDLES – LIBRARY OF A ROCKSTAR: CHAPTER 8

The Stack Bundles train keeps on rolling through with the 8th installment of his series. This time we focus on his relationship with super MC Joe Budden. They were almost magical on the mic together as you listen to them trade bars. Two fantastic wordsmiths trading verses just like 2 of the best basketball players Carmelo Anthony and LeBron James. You really can sense the bond between them upon listening. The beats they rhymed over are pretty dope overall. I think they got a good mix of some straight up classic freestyle beats and even some club joints and slowed down joints as well. They sound fantastic over “Broken Language” and “Breathe.” Joe Budden ends this tape with his tribute to his fallen friend which is just perfect for this project. Joe definitely misses Stack Bundles as do the rest of us.

Chapter 7 of the Stack Bundles history series finds us calling him “Rap’s Makeover.” This was definitely true because you can hear how hungry he is as he chews through the bars on this one. On songs like “Transitions,” you can hear how honest he is as he lays out a lot of current events at the time from his point of view. Def definitely rips the beat with his flow on “Diamonds Are Forever freestyle.” He definitely blacks out on the bars here. Overall, I think there could have been some better beats selected for this one, but that aside, this is another dope collection of the late rapper’s legacy.

Mr. Monday Night is back with Chapter 6 of his Library Of A Rockstar series showcasing his talent that left us all too soon. On this one, he continues to give us great freestyles and even a few features where he shows us he could have made singles for the clubs and ladies to rock to. On this project you get hot freestyles over “Bring Em Out,” “Stunt 101,” and “Game Over.” He definitely burns it down on all of his freestyles. And on songs like “Shake It” featuring Thara and DJ Clue, you can see he was primed and ready to show his song-making ability as he is featured on this club track. He was definitely destined for great things and he left us way too soon.
