PAPOOSE – DECEMBER

Papoose caps the year off with his 12th album this year. That is uncanny in itself and for him to be rapping at such a high level this consistently, it truly is a marvel. Papoose utterly slays the mic yet again and cements the fact that he is one of the greats. His bars are mind-bending. The guy never runs out of words and puts them together so cleverly. He gets features from his wife Remy Ma, 2 Chainz, Busta Rhymes, and Lil Wayne on “Thought I Was Gonna Stop (remix).” He also makes a poignant display of art in the always sorrowful, yet cleverly penned “Obituary 2021.” We always look forward to hearing the creativity, but never look forward to the losses. The beats on this project are street and NY to the core. All in all, Papoose is hitting a homerun yet again. He also shows no signs of slowing down at all. The game better be ready for Papoose.

PAPOOSE – NOVEMBER

Papoose drops the November installment and this one is a banger just like all its predecessors. Although there are only 7 tracks, Papoose keeps his foot on the neck of the competition with no problem. His bars are fantastic as always. He really never runs out of things to spit at all. The beats on here are definitely hard. Right out the gate, the first track “Satan Sent Me” sets the tone. One of the most notable tracks on here is “Thank You (DMX Salute)” which is a fitting tribute to the rapper we all loved so much. Papoose really did a great job at showing everyone why we loved Earl Simmons so much. All in all, this was a great project and Papoose keeps it rolling into the end of the year.

PAPOOSE – OCTOBER

Papoose returns for his October installment and this one is quick and to the point. At only 7 tracks, Papoose wastes no time letting you know why he is one of the best. The first track “Not A Regular N*gga” is lyrical brutality as Pap terrorizes the competition. Pap is one of those dudes that has never spit a whack verse ever. On the production side of things, this one is pretty slamming as well. All of the beats are pretty hard and definitely shows people what the New York rap scene should look like as a whole. All in all, another slamming installment from Papoose as we get closer to the end of the year.

PAPOOSE – SEPTEMBER

Papoose drops his September mixtape and this one is fire just like all of the others. He spits bars of fury in that classic Brooklyn style he is known for. There really aren’t many MCs out there messing with Papoose. He has features from Method Man, Lil Wayne, Cappadonna, and more. The beats on here are pretty decent overall. There is even a freestyle over a classic Jay-Z beat with the track “Bars On I-95.” The project seems kind of rushed, but it must be difficult to get these in month after month. Papoose is slaying the entire year and we definitely look forward to each month.

PAPOOSE – AUGUST

Papoose drops his August monthly installment and this one is pretty dope just as the predecessors. One thing I do notice is that they seem to be getting shorter. It’s hard to get a project out every month and Papoose seems to be just barely hitting the deadline each time. On the mic, Papoose is killing it as usual. His bars are well thought-out and expertly delivered. The beats on here are pretty decent as well. While there may not be anything classic, they definitely get the job done. He even gets a beat from Timbaland on “Done It Now” featuring singer Anthony Hamilton. All in all, this is another good release from Papoose and we definitely look forward to how he will finish out the year.

PAPOOSE – JULY

Papoose keeps his monthly series rolling with the July contribution and this one is probably in the middle of all of them literally and sonically. On the mic, we’ve said it before and we’ll say it again, Pap is a master and there aren’t many people that could mess with him lyrically. The best example of this on this project is “Onslaught” which sounds exactly like it is titled. He releases a barrage of highly-skilled bars to chop the heads off of competitors. The production on this month’s release was okay, but could have been a little bit better. It is quite the endeavor to get a project out every month and sometimes it seems like Papoose might be struggling to get these project in on time. We’re always waiting to see what is next though.

PAPOOSE – JUNE

Papoose drops his June installment of mixtapes and this one is another heat rock. His pen game is unbelievable as he can flip subject matter all over the board. Although this one only has 6 tracks, he gets to work right away. On “Zodiac Killah” he breaks down all of the different zodiac signs and how their characteristic traits are. On “Production Murder, Pt. 1” he shouts out a whole bunch of classic producers in a slick way. On “Narcissist” he shows people the traits of a me-monster and how it can affect people. “Punctuation Slaughter” has Papoose breaking down some of the symbols we use in writing in a slick way. Papoose is immensely talented and this latest offering just further cements it into the history books.

PAPOOSE – MAY

Papoose hits us with the May re-up for his album series. This one is straight banger after banger. Papoose really outdid himself this month. The bars are insane the whole way throughout. The beats are definitely slamming the whole way through as well. This is New York music at its core. The industry really needs more of this. Highlights include “Overrated” featuring Crooked I in which both MCs murder the mic. “My Favorite Gemini” is a love letter written to Remy Ma which is very well written and authentic. To end the project, Papoose rhymes over the Jay-Z classic for “Dead Presidents 2021” in which he actually talks about past presidents. Papoose is probably the most creative rapper ever. You definitely don’t want to miss this project.

PAPOOSE – APRIL

Papoose delivers his April mixtape and this one seemed a little shorter than previous months. That being said, he still does have some really clever ideas on here. Of course Papoose is on top of his game when it comes to the bars. There really aren’t too many MCs out there that are seeing Pap on the mic. The beats on here are dope as well. It definitely has more of an East Coast / New York feel to it which is a great thing to see nowadays. On “The Internet Is Gone,” Papoose imagines a world without the internet for just a day. This was such a clever idea and would probably be really good for everyone. He does a quick joint for DMX with the “DMX Tribute” song. He rhymes over “What These Bitches Want” and stays on topic briefly before changing subjects. It would have been cooler if he did an entire joint to pay tribute to X. I’d even have liked to see him rhyme over another more upbeat track too. There are a few joints on here that pretty much play through like a freestyle clocking in at under 2 minutes in length. All in all, not a bad job with this one. It does seem a bit rushed though. I’d like to see Pap use a little more effort on the next one.

PAPOOSE – MARCH

Papoose drops his monthly mixtape March and this one is just as expertly crafted as its predecessors. On the mic, Papoose is pure genius personified. His creativity level is off the charts and he expertly displays that on songs like “NBA Rhyme Scheme” where he rhymes together all of the team names in the NBA. On tracks like the highlight “Say No More,” Pap drops fire bars over top of a fire track. This is what pure MC’ing is all about it. And to cap off the 8 track project, Pap spits “Because” over a classic beat that heads should recognize. He basically answers all of the questions in Jadakiss’ classic track “Why.” This was such a genius idea and it turned out amazing. Pap really is a scientist in the lab and this year is sizing up to be a big one for him.

PAPOOSE – FEBRUARY

Papoose drops his February monthly series mixtape and this one is pretty dope overall. On the mic, Papoose is severely underrated and murders MCs by the millions on here. His bars are expertly crafted and he is able to tell stories like not many others. The beats on here are pretty dope overall as well. He has some New York / East coast sounding boom bap beats which complement his style perfectly seeing as how he is from Brooklyn. On “Sticks & Stones” he shows how words can’t hurt him based on possible slander that he might receive. He absolutely pays homage and murders the Big L song on “Ebonics 2021” by doing just what Big L did on the original, but in an updated version. He shows us what black love looks and sounds like on “Invincible Black Love.” And in his signature creative style, he flips names of breakfast cereals on “Cereal Killer.” This is another great installment for Papoose and we are definitely looking forward to every month.

PAPOOSE – JANUARY

Papoose drops off a quick 8 track project for January aptly titled so. There is no denying Papoose’s greatness on the mic. He consistently hits us with expert level bars that are way above most rappers. He really doesn’t get the credit he deserves for being so great. The beats on this project are pretty average for the most part which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. They are definitely hitting for par on the production side of things. Some highlights on this one include “Capitol Bullshit” which is a written testimony to the atrocities committed on January 6th, 2021 and the failure to have any repurcussions. Another great joint is his “2020 Obituary.” These are always sad to hear all the names we lost, but he does them all justice by honoring them in such a talented way. Papoose is a national treasure and you definitely need to check out this project and all his projects.

PAPOOSE – ENDANGERED SPECIES

Papoose drops off a brand new joint and this one is full of jewelry for y’all. The amount of knowledge that Papoose can pack into a project is astounding. His brain is basically a dictionary on steroids. As far as the rhymes go on this project, you will just have to see for yourself to see how crazy this man can get. He’s top tier MC all day. The beats on this project are a mixed bag. You get some beats that slam and others that are more laid back and introspective. “Kickback” features French Montana and Conway and flips LL Cool J’s “I Shot Ya” beat. One of the lyrical highlights of this project is “The Human Body (The Brain).” He expertly breaks down the makeup of the human brain like a hip hop doctor on top of his game. It really is remarkable what Papoose did on this track. On “Covid 19” he rhymes from the perspective of the novel coronavirus over a hard beat. On “Maturity” he breaks it down what it is like to be a grown man with a family. “Numerical Slaughter 2” was one of the tracks I didn’t really get down with. Pap is obviously capable of breaking down topics cleverly, but he didn’t really deliver like he should have on this gimmicky track. And finally, “Tribute” was an amazing and sad track. He alphabetically breaks down a lot of deaths due to social injustice. It’s an amazing and heartfelt track, but it’s just so sad and disgusting that he even was able to make this track due to other people’s racism. Overall, Papoose dropped another knowledge bomb for fans to comb through.

PAPOOSE – FOOD FOR THOUGHT

Papoose drops off an extremely quick mixtape in which he absolutely slays bars. At 10 tracks, it sounds like it would be a decent sized project, but almost every track is only about a minute and a half long so it goes fast. Papoose takes some of the most classic beats out there and just laces them with mind-bending rhymes. It comes as no surprise since Papoose has been killing the microphone for years. He definitely gets busy on the mic, there is no question. Any freestyle fans out there definitely want to pick this one up for a quick listen. You will definitely wish the project was longer.

PAPOOSE – UNDERRATED

Papoose is back in a big way with this new project Underrated. Lyrically, there aren’t really many at all in the game today that are messing with Papoose. Bar for bar, he is crushing the competition without question. He truly embodies Brooklyn and NY rapping at its finest. He hits us with 12 tracks that are just chock full of jewels. He sets the tone in the first 4 bars of the first track, “I don’t write rhymes I write prescriptions/ cause these niggas sickening/ My wife is religious/ her Louis Vuitton’s are Christian.” Next, he hits us with “Numerical Slaughter” which is a follow-up of his classic “Alphabetical Slaughter.” The highlight of this album has to be “The Golden Child” which is easily one of the most beautiful songs I have ever heard. He and his wife Remy Ma drop beautiful and skillful verses about bringing their new child into the world. The beat contains a sample of the the unborn baby’s heartbeat. If that doesn’t tug at your heartstrings, I don’t know what will. For rappers to be this vulnerable and share their lives in such a creative and beautiful way is truly a gift for fans. I truly commend them for such a precious song. The beats are on point on this project. The rhymes are on point. You will not be disappointed with this one. Papoose remains one of the more underrated rappers today and people need to recognize his greatness.

PAPOOSE – BACK 2 THE STREETS

Papoose hits us with a surprise mixtape called Back 2 The Streets and it is definitely well received. Papoose is unquestionably one of the nicest rappers out today. He has been bodying other MCs for years and years and he continues to do the same on this new offering. His bars are definitely fantastic. Just when you think he is going to run out of words, he shows you why he is a lyrical mastermind. His flow is impeccable. He continues to ride the beat and even switching up his flows at times to show his versatility. The beats on this album are pretty good as well. They have a bit of an old school feel to them. The drums are hard and the samples are definitely some you will recognize if you like older school hip hop. He is showing what he can do nowadays with a touch of the golden era. He even ends the project with the 2017 Obituary track which is something while we don’t look forward to the deaths, we do look forward to Papoose spitting them out so cleverly. This is definitely a good tape to check if you are a real hip-hop head.
