NICK GRANT – WELCOME TO LOVELAND

Nick Grant drops a new album and this one sounds like it is entirely inspired by Outkast. It has that Southern feel to it coupled with melodic singing of hooks. There are even times when he is rhyming where he sounds exactly like Andre 3000. I don’t know if this was intended or not, but it is undeniable. Personally, I think he sounds better when he just sticks to bars. He sounds great and is able to put words together clearly and concisely. There is no losing of the message with Nick Grant. He is a great MC. I just don’t want to see him going down the path of trying to sound like other people. We already had Outkast and they were great. Don’t be the next them. Be the first and only Nick Grant. Show us what your world is about. Give us your truth. Because you are clearly great at it. The beats on here are overall pretty dope. There are some hard drum and basslines that are good and even a few sleepier tracks on here. All in all, this wasn’t a bad album at all. I just want to see Nick Grant stand on his own and give us his authentic self. Because he is a really good rapper.

NICK GRANT – CAROLINA DIARIES

At only 4 tracks, Nick Grant didn’t have much time to prove himself, but he did it. The bars are fantastic. His flow is great and his wordplay is dope. He is able to rip the beats with no problem at all. The beats on here are pretty decent as well. There are definitely some nice drums and basslines on the songs. I don’t really think there is a highlight as all 4 songs play through pretty cohesively and consistently. Nick Grant is definitely underrated out there in the game. I wish that he would put out some more product though.

NICK GRANT & TAE BEAST – GOD BLESS THE CHILD

Nick Grant teams up with producer Tae Beast and drops off a super short but super solid project. With only 5 tracks, he didn’t have much time to show us why he is great, but he did it despite of that. Nick Grant is a genius on the mic. His bars are well-crafted and he has a superb flow. Every single bar is just expertly delivered on here. There really is no coaching him here. The beats are really solid and cohesive as well. Tae Beast selects some great drums throughout this short project to really make the songs slap. My only wish with this project is that it would have been fleshed out more. I really think these two worked well together and it would be dope to hear a full length studio album.

NICK GRANT – DREAMIN OUT LOUD

Nick Grant is a new MC that has the potential to be absolutely amazing. His level of lyrical skill is amazing especially for this newer class coming up in the game. His bars are complex and his cadence can be amazing at times. He almost reminds me of a younger Andre 3000 when he was coming up. The production on this album was awesome at times as well. There were really strongly produced songs with amazing samples and hard drums. The only songs I could have done without were probably “The Switch Up” and “Bleu Cheese.” On these tracks, he tries to do that newer trap/mumble rap flow and it just sounds awful. It’s like taking a great MC and dumbing him down when he is capable of so much more. The standout songs to me are “Nicky Bomaye” and “Save The Trillden.” Both of these songs have amazing samples and such hard hitting drums. These are just an amazing display of talent. This is definitely a dude that could create a classic. Stay away from sounding like these other new cats and just showcase your greatness Nick Grant.
