MEEK MILL – FLAMERZ 5

Meek Mill drops a new project that is mainly a collection of freestyles over some current popular beats. As far as the rhymes, they pretty much all sound like throwaway rhymes. His flow is all over the place and he can’t seem to stick to the beat at all. The beats selected are pretty standard. He is rapping over a lot of the most popular beats out right now like “Wait 4 U” and “Super Gremlin.” This really isn’t one that most people will be playing back over and over again. This one really isn’t going to make a lot of noise out there at all.

MEEK MILL – EXPENSIVE PAIN

Meek Mill drops a new album and most of these songs are pretty much the same. You get a few where he tries to make some radio joints like “Ride For You” featuring Kehlani, but other than that, you’re not gonna get too much with this one. Meek yells his rhymes at us yet again. He gets some help from features like Lil Baby, Lil Durk, ASAP Ferg, and others, but it really doesn’t matter too much. The beats on here are pretty simple. Most of the songs sound similar. This really wasn’t a good effort and hip hop fans will definitely want to skip over this one.

MEEK MILL – QUARANTINE PACK

Meek Mill drops off a quick 4 songs like we needed it or wanted it for some reason. This one isn’t too good. It’s crazy short. The songs really aren’t that good. I suppose on the mic, he almost gets to the level where it sounds like he is spitting a little bit. I guess you could say he almost has a creative flow here and there. But that’s about it. The beats are pretty trash. The bars are mostly trash. This one just isn’t very good at all. I’d definitely pass on this one.

MEEK MILL – CHAMPIONSHIPS

There’s already a lot of talk about this project being album of the year. Let me assure you that it is not. I love Philly and I definitely try to support Philly artists as much as possible, but this project just doesn’t do it. Meek Mill on the mic isn’t really too good. You are not really going to hear any rewind worth bars on here. It’s the same ol yelling on the mic that we have seen time and time again. It’s easy to get lost in the monotony. How many times can you yell to us about the “ROLLIE ON MY WRIST!!” and “HOPPIN OUT THE GHOST!!” lines? We have heard that before Meek. Thanks, but no thanks. I think you do get a little bit of introspection and a little bit of deeper lyrics on “What’s Free” and “Trauma” but, it isn’t really saving the project as a whole. The beats on here are almost like a greatest hits collection of some of the dopest hip hop samples over the years. The problem is that these beats aren’t Meek’s and honestly, I don’t really want to hear Meek trying to redo the songs. There really isn’t too much originality as far as the production goes. Just because the beat was popular before, doesn’t necessarily mean it is going to be again. I would have liked to see more original content instead of recycling the same beats again and trying to pass them off as new. On positive thing I did like about the project is maybe the marketing around it. There probably isn’t a better rollout for this album coming out of jail, trying to reform the criminal justice system, and also naming the album Championships being from Philly and coming off the Eagles Superbowl win. All of that lines up perfectly. It kind of sucks to say, but I don’t really have a lot of faith in Meek’s abilities despite what record sales and streams say. Sorry, but this just ain’t it.

MEEK MILL – LEGENDS OF THE SUMMER EP

This is just a quick 4 track project from the newly freed Meek Mill. I’m definitely not a fan of Meek Mill but I thought I would check this one out since it was quick. This was an okay listen. I’m sure if you are a Meek fan, you will disagree with me wholeheartedly, but I’m just calling it like I see it. His rhymes always seem forced like he is yelling at the audience. It’s not terrible to the ear, but I’m not really down with that style. The beats on here are decent. They have a much more upbeat and energetic feel to them which definitely matches his energy on rhyme delivery. This was definitely a project that was not for me, but I can’t really just throw it away either. I know that fans will appreciate this project.
