BILLY DANZE – TOP 5

Billy Danze gets right to the point with this new 5 track EP. It is quick and dirty and is sure to keep fans fed. On the mic, he is hard as he ever was with his gritty Brownsville street rhymes. He definitely hasn’t lost a step at all when it comes to the bars. For the production, he decided to make songs over 5 classic NY tracks and he does a slamming job with all 5 of them. This is a hardcore Brooklyn banger just as he has always done whether solo or as a duo in M.O.P. Fans will definitely appreciate this one and as always, we can’t wait to hear more from Danze and/or M.O.P.

BILLY DANZE & WEBUSY CONSTRUCTION TEAM – THE RE-LISTENING SESSION

Billy Danze hits us with a remix album of sorts of his Listening Session album. On the mic, Billy Danze sounds as dope as he ever has. That energetic voice and delivery is still as strong from back in the beginning days of M.O.P. And he delivers that from front to back on this new record. The beats on here are pretty slamming as well. They reworked a lot of the songs from the original album, but still kept that gritty boom bap sound. This is a super solid record that plays the whole way through and M.O.P. fans will definitely rejoice with this one.

BILLY DANZE & TOO BUSY – THE LISTENING SESSION

Billy Danze teams up with producer Too Busy to deliver this new project. There are 13 tracks all produced by Too Busy. Musically, at the core, you are getting boom bap sounds mixed with a little bit of jazz. I think the jazz elements might have brought the sound down slightly, but the beats are still pretty decent overall. On the mic, Billy Danze sounds dope and brings that classic MOP sound. I think at times, you want to hear Billy Danze over DJ Premier tracks, but it just doesn’t go all the way there. That is the element that is missing I think. All in all, this is a good effort though. You also get some good features from Method Man, Cormega, Daz, and more. Boom bap heads will definitely want to check this one out.

BILLY DANZE – THE BAKERS DOZEN

One half of M.O.P. (namely Billy Danze) is back with a new album and he is definitely bringing that Brownsville heat. M.O.P. has always given us gritty and rugged street anthems and Billy Danze subscribes to this same formula very successfully with this new solo album. His rhymes are strong and dangerous as usual. It always sounds great to hear how rugged he can be when he is spitting on the mic. The beats on here are stong as well. Most of the songs have a very slamming and aggressive presence which we have always appreciated from M.O.P. I think the only thing that might have been missing off of this project was a joint or two by DJ Premier. He even included a slowed down and thoughtful cut with the song “Locked In Chains” which features The Force MDs. All in all, this is a strong project that deserves your listening ear.

BILLY DANZE – 6 PACK

One half of the firing squad M.O.P., Billy Danze, drops off a quick 6 track EP for fans. In all honesty, I actually thought this was going to be better than it was. It’s definitely not whack at all. You get some hard rhymes and hard beats on this project. I was actually a bit impressed with the rhymes on this project. That part of it was definitely worth a listen. I think where I got let down was wanting the beats to be a tad better. When you hear the past M.O.P. albums with all of their great production from DJ Premier and others, you want to hear that same product on here. While the beats might not be quite up to par, it still is not bad at all. All 6 tracks are pretty consistent which is another strength of the project. It plays through without missing a beat. I would have preferred getting a full length album from Danze or M.O.P. as a whole, but we will take what we can get.
