Berner drops an important new album. Going through a bout with cancer can definitely be eye opening and make one reevaluate their life. I think that is what happened with Berner here on this one. I definitely wish him the best recovery from that horrible disease. It’s a God-send to be rid of it. All that aside, I can also say I really was never the biggest fan of Berner. I guess I just didn’t latch onto his style. Everything isn’t for everybody though. On this album, I do however, think that he stepped his pen game up a tad. He definitely seems to be thinking more focused about life and his bars. He enlists some super heavy features from artists such as Nas, Jadakiss, Conway, Benny, Ty Dolla Sign, Wiz Khalifa, and more. The production on this project seemed to be stepped up a bit as well. There are some decent beats that he rocks over. The overall theme was pretty dope as well and the vocal excerpts from John Gotti definitely gave it some authenticity. All in all, it’s not really an album I can say I rock with all the time, but Berner definitely stepped it up on this album. Even though I may not be a fan of his, I definitely wish him health and continued success.
