Public Enemy releases a brand new album in 2020. Definitely not the biggest Public Enemy fan here which I’m sure sounds crazy to most. I just never really got into their albums too much. This one was pretty much the same. One thing for sure is that they stay consistent. I do like their political stance on things and the messages they convey. I’m with them and I respect them, it’s just that I don’t care for the music too much. This album was pretty average to me. The songs that have more of a rock influence like “Yesterday Man” I didn’t really care for too much. I did like some of the more rap influenced songs with hard beats like “Toxic.” That joint was definitely a banger. And who can’t enjoy a 2020 version of “Fight The Power.” That’s always appreciated. Public Enemy fans will like this one, but to the casual rap fan, they might not be too impressed. It’s all about where you are on the timeline of rap history.
