Kay Slay hits us with a new project and in this case, I actually think it was a little bit better to have a shorter project. We are used to getting enormous albums chock full of every rap artist ever from Kay Slay so this was a bit of a different approach. Historically, I have usually been against the use of EPs, but in this rare instance, I think it actually worked better. At 8 tracks, Kay Slay gives us just enough and doesn’t inundate our ears. We have just enough time to hear what we need to hear and keep it quality. And that is exactly what Kay Slay does here. The far and above highlight of this project is “Back To The Bars, Pt. 2” which features some of the best MC’s from today and from the classic 90’s NY times as well. Every MC goes incredibly hard and it is very reminiscent of the late 90’s feel. There are tons of other great features on here from Jadakiss, Bun B, Dave East, Papoose, Juicy J, Joell Ortiz, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah, AZ, and more. The beats on here are mainly focused on the classic East Coast NY sound, but there are moments where you will get some down South feels as well. All in all, this was a very good look for Kay Slay and I definitely think he should think more about keeping these projects shorter and sharper like this one was.
