KUNIVA & SWIFTY MCVAY – MY BROTHER’S KEEPER

2 members of D-12 give us a pretty strong offering. Even though it is only 7 tracks, the strength and the heart can be felt throughout this project. I think D-12 has always had heart and that is why it has always been painful since Proof died. The tear that went through that group can never be undone and we continue to experience it in their music. Although some of the group members have always been better lyrically, they haven’t always had the chance to shine until more recent times. Here are 2 of the members as a perfect example that D-12 members can spit. The lyrical ability displayed on this project is very good from both MC’s. They display strong flows and incredible wordplay throughout. One of the highlights was the first song “Gate Open” as both MC’s ferociously tear into it with unstoppable bars. The production throughout this project is pretty decent overall. I think they definitely have a strong Detroit sound and at times, really try to create just good music that people who enjoy any genre of music would like. All in all, they are keeping the torch lit for not only D-12, but also all of Detroit.

OVERALL RATING: 3.5 out of 5 Cheesesteaks
