Coming back straight outta Philly is some of the Major Figgas cats back with a new album. This one is pretty dope overall. For one, it is different than a lot of the other garbage out there today. This one stands out on it’s own. In one of their skits, the MCs Ab Liva and Spade O even say that they were just trying to make dope music. That is what they definitely did with this record. Spade O has always done his thing on the mic but Ab Liva is just on another level lyrically. It’s amazing to hear him spit. Even since the days back with the Re-Up gang, Ab Liva has been spitting mafia/drug/high fashion rhymes unlike no other. They do a great job together with all the rhymes on this project. The beats are decent overall. Some of the beats I think transcend others, but they are all at least decent. The highlight is “Silence Of The Lambs.” This song is pure greatness. It is Philly at it’s best with a sped up soul sample reminiscent of the Diplomats sound. Honorable mention goes to the song “Red Leather” with its clever sung hook. They did a good job with this one. I hope this is the start of a new Philly renaissance because I think these cats are onto something.
