Another storytime session for Troy Ave. I guess he feels he doesn’t have to rap anymore and all he has to do is just talk and tell stories about how real he is instead of actually rapping well. It reminds me of an old quote: “Power is like being a lady…if you have to tell people you are, you aren’t.” This kind of applies to Troy Ave nowadays. He keeps telling us over and over and over and over again how real he is. If you have to tell us that often, are you really real? Also, I don’t understand how he can consider himself so good when he has done a lot less rapping and does a lot more spoken word talking on albums. Are these even rap albums anymore? So that being said, the rhymes are subpar on here. He really isn’t even trying anymore. Bragging that he wrote some freestyles minutes before he spits them definitely shows. The beats are okay. There are some popular beats that he freestyles over which is kinda cool I guess. All in all, Troy Ave is not showing much effort anymore to bring back that classic New York feel.
