Outkast has always been on the cutting edge of rap music and they have always pushed the boundaries forward. They have always kept that Southern style of rap but also made it easily digestible and melodic to the ear. Big Boi has continued that trend by himself while Andre does whatever it is that he does. With his 3rd solo album, Big Boi drops off a complex project here. As far as the beats, they are pretty decent overall. I think there are some tracks where you get the classic Outkast feel like “All Night” and “Overthunk.” There are some other tracks that weren’t necessarily bad, I just didn’t like them as much as others such as “In The South.” This is probably due to some of the features like Gucci Mane and Jeezy. I can do without them. I was hyped to see Big Rube on the album to give it that classic Outkast feel. Big Boi’s lyrics are decent across the board. I don’t think this is his best offering but he probably shoots for par on this one. One last thing I have to say about this album is that this is the type of album you have to listen to a few times to get. You can’t just give it one spin and be done. You will miss a lot. Digest this one a few times to get the full effect.

OVERALL RATING: 3.5 out of 5 Cheesesteaks
