Snoop Dogg has become the new Willie Nelson as far as I am concerned. He may have been relevant to rap back in the mid 90’s, but today he is more of a cartoon character. More of an elder statesman of what once was. He has paid his dues and paved the way for a lot of artists so he doesn’t really have to do too much more. You can’t really take anything away from his legacy. He drops another album on us for some reason though. On paper, this album looks like it should be phenomenal boasting such heavyweight producers such as Timbaland, Swizz Beatz, Just Blaze, Rockwilder, and Nottz. With that lineup, you would think that this album would be destined for greatness. Sadly, it is quite the opposite. There is not much to take away from this project. It’s as if Snoop was bored and is just trying to stay relevant. The song “Kush Ups” with Wiz Khalifa may be one of the only noticeable tracks from the project. What i find most puzzling is that there are so many Swizz Beatz tracks on here and there really aren’t any bangers as far as tracks go. It’s almost as if Swizz, Timbaland, and Just Blaze gave the worst tracks they had to Snoop for this project. We really need for Snoop to just be at events and concerts and smoke weed. Maybe help mentor some other West Coast artists. Be the elder statesman in rap. Don’t tarnish your legacy.
