I’m not 100% sure if I can call this a concept album. I’ve never fully understood that term. However, this album is what I would picture that word to mean. This is a strong release from a veteran California artist. If there was a soundtrack to collecting taxes of gold coins in ancient Egypt with a hip-hop twist, this album is it. The production with the coin drops, tambourine shakes, and strong drums sets the perfect backdrop for Planet Asia to spit. The highlights of this album include “The Festival” featuring Sean Price and “Gold Vases.” While he may not be the best lyricist ever, he certainly doesn’t slack. He can flow flawlessly over these very cohesive beats. All of the songs fit together very well on this album so the listener doesn’t get lost along the way. This is a very good release and is a good choice for those looking for freshness apart from the mainstream drudge that is out there.
