This is a relatively decent release from an old school New York artist. The feel of this album is more geared towards a Valentine’s Day feel obviously being titled 214. I’ve always been checking for Ali Vegas ever since he dropped the classic “The Specialist” track back in the day. He’s an artist that never really seemed to catch on with the masses though. Despite that, he still has some skill at this rapping thing. He raps over a few R&B tracks on this album taking on old classics like Aaliyah’s “One In A Million” and also newer hits like Chris Brown’s “Back To Sleep.” He also has a few original tracks which aren’t bad at all. “I Need You” is probably one of the more stand out original tracks. Definitely a good listen while you are rollin around the city with wifey in the car. I’d like to see more from Ali Vegas but at the same time, I just don’t know if he can keep up with a lot of the lyricists out there today. I definitely hope that he can though. We will hopefully see more to come from Ali Vegas.
